- Internationalising the University curriculum initiative – School of the Built Environment, University of Salford, 2013 – 2014. Internationalisation of the curriculum is the process of designing a curriculum that meets the needs of an international student body. This is: “the process of transforming our curricula to empower & equip our students to make a difference as active global citizens”. Accordingly, Internationalising the curriculum included all aspects of the learning process and promoted activities that will help students develop international understanding and intercultural skills to respond to the intellectual, social and personal challenges they will face as graduates. I have been instrumental in encouraging colleagues to incorporate these principles within my school in making sure that: Curriculum is inclusive; Culturally responsive; Curriculum helps students to understand the global context of their studies; It creates effectively in international professional environments; Irrespective of whatever their discipline or level of study, students should gain an international perspective on their subject, its application and themselves as global citizens; and It ensures academic involvement in internationalisation of curriculum and teaching and internationalisation of research and research links.
